Songtress Sahra Ahmed Dies At 6
Somali legendary musician Sahra Ahmed has ben announced dead in Hargeisa following a long illness.
“She had been ill for a while and passed on today” Musician Hassan Laab Salah told Radio Dalsan.
Sahra Ahmed Jama who started singing at the age of 13 was a leading member of the famous Waberi Band that rocked pre civil war Somalia.
Among her well known songs are “Manahow” and “Sir Maqabe”.
Somalis have been paying tribute to the singer following news of her death.
“I send my heartfelt condolences to the Somali nation today for the death of Sahra Ahmed Jamaa who was among the leading Somali musicians. Sahra is remembered for her golden voice and the unforgettable roles she had on the Somali musical art” Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire tweeted.
