Somalia’s First Pilot Barre Dies At 90

The first Somali pilot Mohamud Abdullahi Barre “Faytaan” passed away on Tuesday night in the Somali capital Mogadishu at the age of 90.

Pilot Faytaan who was one of the founders of the famous Somali Airlines was reported to have been sickly in the recent past.

Faytaan took his piloting licence in 1954 and was one of the first recruits of the Somali Air Force.
