Unknown gunmen have shot and killed Radio Baidoa journalist Daud Omar on Wednesdaynight.
Daud was shot dead by the assailants alongside his wife at their home in the south western city.
It is not clear the motive of the attack and who was behind it however regional police official has blamed armed group Al Shabaab for the attack.
Somali Independent Media Houses Association (SIMHA) has condemned the killing.
SIMHA Chairman Hassan Ali Gesey has urged local authorities to investigate the killing and bring to book those responsible.
“I appeal to the south western regional state administration to investigate the heinous crime and bring before justice those responsible for the crime,” he said.
Somalia is one of the most dangerous environment for journalists to operate after Syria and Iraq according to Committee to protect journalists.
