Puntland Suspends National TV

The authorities in the Somali regional state of Puntland have suspended the operations of Somali National TV channel SNTV.

The authorities said the channel has misrepresented regional administration role in helping refugees fleeing from Yemen.

Hundreds of Somali and Yemeni refugees fleeing the conflict have reached the regional state territory since Saudi led coalition launched airstrikes against Houthi Shia rebels in Yemen.

Federal government of Somalia Ministry of Information has called upon its regional state counterpart to allow the National Channel to operate freely without condition.

Director of Information Abdulrazack information has requested the regional authorities to submit formal complaint against the National Television to the Information Ministry in the capital Mogadishu.
