Somali President Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Thursday visited the recently liberated village of NurDugle in MiddleShabelle, where he met with the leadership of Hirshabelle State, SNA officials andlocal people.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has praised the armed forces and the people living in Hirshabelle, especially Nur-dugle and the surrounding areas for their achievements in the war against the Al-Shabaab, and encouraged them to continue their self-sacrificing struggle in Somalia.

The President who was also briefed on the social conditions in the Middle Shabelle Region, indicated that it is unacceptable for a Somali boy or girl to lose their lives in a war other than terrorism, and urged them to strengthen brotherhood and solidarity.

´´The President who is speeding up the fight against Al-Shabaab terrorists, has reached Nur-dugle area in Hirshabelle, one of the areas where the army and the people have cooperated to liberate them from the Al-Shabaab,´´ Villa Somalia said in a statement.

Mohamud stressed that the government will continue the war as long as the Al-Shabaab remain in a part of the territory of the Republic of Somalia, and he added that government services will be delivered to the districts and areas liberated from Al-Shabaab.

Hundreds of Militants were killed in the operation to flush out the group which has besieged governments in Mogadishu for close to 15 years.

The successful offensive follows recents military advancements by the Somali Army in pursuit of al-Shabab to remove them from parts of central and southern Somalia.

Al-Shabaab fighters have stepped up their attacks in Somalia since Mohamud was elected in May and vowed an “all-out-war” on the Islamists.
