US Congratulates Somalia for the 55th Independent anniversary

United States Special Representative for Somalia James P. McAnulty has congratulated federal government of Somalia for its 55th Independence Anniversary on July 1.

“On behalf of President Obama, Secretary of State Kerry and the American people, I congratulate the government and people of Somalia on this special day,” said SRS McAnulty.

US envoy commended Somali government and its people for their courage to reverse two decades of civil conflict and their determination to build a stable and federal democratic state.

Ambassador McAnulty assured his government support for Somalia as it continuous to build peace and stability in its country.

“We will continue to support Somalia in its goal to secure its people, enhance governance structures across the country, and provide greater opportunities for economic development,” SRS McAnulty said.

He added that United States government will reaffirm its commitment to work as a close partner for the benefit of Somalia and the region.

Somalia marked 55th independent anniversary and the historic union of the southern and northern regions which gained independence from Italy and Britain respectively.
