UK Foreign Secretary arrives in Mogadishu held talks with President and PM

British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond has arrived in Somali capital Mogadishu on Thursday hours after Alshabaab militants deadly attack on Mogadishu hotel.

Philip Hammond was accompanied by another military plane carrying British troops to provide security according to sources.

He latter held talks with Somali President and the Prime minister on counter terrorism efforts to defeat armed group Alshabaab.

UK has announced to send small number of troops to Somalia to provide training and logistics support to Somali National Army and African Union troops fighting Alshabaab.

Britain is one of the few European countries that have permanent embassy in Mogadishu apart from Turkey which has just completed the largest embassy in Africa..
