UK and Sweden to help Somalia rebuild army

UK and Swedish ambassadors who met Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud have promised to help rebuild Somali national army.

Ambassador Neil Wigan of Britain and Ambassador Mikael Lindvall of Sweden have met the president who briefed them on the situation in the country.

President Mohamud have briefed them on the ongoing preparations on possible 2016 general elections and recent national assembly establishment of interim independent electoral body.

British ambassador delivered his PM letter to President Sheikh Mohamud reiterating support for Somali government.

Ambassador Wigan said his country will take front role in rebuilding of the Somali national army and police to strengthen security.

Swedish ambassador who also welcomed the cabinet move to approve interim electoral and justice commission has promised his country’s continuous support to Somali people.
