The Somali National Leaders Forum comes to an end after eight days later

The Somalia National Leaders Forum meeting ended on Tuesday after eight days of meeting in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu.

The leaders agreed on the election dates proposed by the Somali Federal Election Commission in Somalia.

“We urge the government to speed up the formation of a regional administration in Hiiraan and middle Shabelle regions before the elections,” the leaders said.

The chairman of the committee, Mr Omar Mohamed Abdulle at a press conference in Mogadishu released the election dates as follows, the Upper House will elect their leaders on 25th of September and parliamentarians will begin voting on 24 September to 10th of October 2016.

The speaker of the House will be elected on 25th of October and the Presidential election will be on 30th of October 2016.

Some political parties have criticized the upcoming elections announced by the federal indirect Election Technical committee, Mr Omar Mohamed Abdulle and predicted political turmoil in the run up to the elections.
