Somalia: Ongoing security operations in Garowe town

The security forces in Garowe town the headquarters of the semiautonomous state of Puntland have been in the last couple of nights engaged in security operations.

During the operations number of youths and other people who are believed to be jeopardizing the security in the town have been detained.

The security personnel have been thoroughly checking the cars and the ordinary citizens.

The regional police Commissioner of Nugal region Colonel Abdurahman Abshir Farah addressed the press and said many people who are dangerous to the stability were caught during the operations, and has urged the local citizen to fully work with them on security matters and to report whoever they see as suspicious.

Colonel Abshir also added that the security operations will be in place till they find out that the entire region is safe and secure.

Puntland is relatively calm in terms of security compare to the rest of the country, although there are minor attacks which the radical Islamist factions Alshabab carryout.
