Somalia: Detained artists regain their independence

A court in the breakaway state of Somaliland has on Wednesday ordered singers from Horn Stars band who were arrested on Sunday to be freed without any condition.
“Till today the police brought no legal accusation against the musicians before the court, and we therefore give orders for the immediate release of the singers” says Ahmed Ishmael the judge of Hargeisa court.
And according to article 25 of Somaliland constitution there is no one whose right can be violated on baseless grounds.
The detention of the artists comes after they performed live music show in the Somali capital Mogadishu, and there is great political hostility between Somalia and the breakaway state of Somaliland.
Somaliland has claimed its self independence from the rest of Somalia in 1993.
