Somalia bans Khat from police officers on duty

Somali police officers will from now on avoid khat in their pockets to avoid trouble while on their duty to maintain law and order.

The recuperating state new Police boss General Mohamed Sheikh Hassan has on Monday warned officers found chewing while on duty to face the full force of the country’s law.

General Sheikh Hassan said the offense will be taken seriously and handled by military court.

He believes the ban of the stimulant drug will improve the image and performance of the law and order maintaining agency which is recovering from decades of civil war.

Meanwhile over 300 police officers recruitment was announced targeting high school and university graduates.
