Somalia allows Sudan to use Berbera airbase to hit Houthis

Federal government of Somalia has permitted Sudanese military jets to use Berbera airbase to attack Houthi Shia rebels in Yemen.

Sudan is part of Saudi led coalition which is targeting Houthi rebels’ positions in Yemen to protect the legitimate government of President Abdi Rabou Mansour Hadi.

In an earlier Press statement Federal government of Somalia has supported Saudi led the operation while offering its airspace and water to be used against Houthi fighters.

Week long bombing campaign against Houthis in Yemen has destroyed group arm stores,anti-aircraft batteries and killed several of fighters.

Former President Ali Abdallah Saleh who is believed to be behind Houthis has called for end to invasion and initiate peace talks to end the crisis.
