Somalia: A company of Ethiopian troops set on foot in Bardere district

At least 260 well equipped Ethiopian troops have on Monday reached in Bardere district in Gedo region southwest of the Somali capital Mogadishu.

These troops will be part boosting the Jubbaland force in the fight against Alshabab fighters in the territory of Jubbaland state.

The deputy district commissioner of Bardere district Mr. Mohamed Hussein AlQadi told the press the arrival of the Ethiopian troops in the district, and said that these Ethiopian troops will be taking the positions which the Sierra Leonean troops have abandoned in the year 2014 after the Ebola outbreak in their country.

“These Ethiopian troops will soon wage libration war against Alshabab in the few remaining areas where they are now” said the deputy district commissioner of Bardere district Mr. Alqadi.

It was just last week when a battalion of Ethiopian troops who are part of the African Union Mission in Somalia have reached at coastal town of Kismayo which is now the headquarters of Jubbaland State.

There are troops mainly from East Africa who are part of the African Union Mission in Somalia battling with Alshabab fighters who have now lost several significant towns in the country.
