Somali President Welcomes New Central Regional State Parliament

The President of the federal republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has welcomed the establishment of the interim new central regional state parliament.

The 60 members selected by the delegates were sworn in Adado city, the host of the central regional state formation.

President Sheikh Mohamud described the move as step forward to the implementation of federalism in the country and called upon the locals to move forward in the implementation of the remaining pillars to complete regional state administration.

“It is a new dawn for the central regional state people, I urge them to take advantage of the new dispensation and elect regional government that they think is best suited for them and central government will respect their voice and closely work with them,” he said.

He added that the federal government which is based on spirit of peace and reconciliation will not tolerate any regional administration that threatens peace and stability in the country.

The semi-autonomous regional state of Puntland has distanced itself from new Adado administration claiming some territories within Puntland are integrated into central regional state which according to Garowe is unacceptable.
