Somali President urges the youth to take part in the rebuilding of the nation

The President of the federal republic of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has called upon the young population in the country to take active role in the rebuilding of the nation.

Speaking during the commemoration of the Somali Youth League 72nd anniversary in Mogadishu hotel on Saturday night, President Mohamud urged the youths to shun violence and play their integral part in the recovery of their recuperating state.

He appealed them to help end piracy, conflict, immigration via the sea and drug abuse.

He outlined the federal government plan to create employment opportunities for the youths and improve the existing education facilities to boost Somali youthful population standard.

Several government officials and were presented with awards for their instrumental role in spear heading youth development projects.

Among them was Mogadishu mayor who also doubles up as the governor of Benadir region Hassan Mohamed Hussein famously known as Mungab.

A football match between the Somali cabinet and the national assembly on Saturday in which the national assembly carried the day with four goals against two was talk of the day.

The match was staged in the memory of the founders and members of the Somali National Youth league.
