Somali President meets with UN secretary General in Egypt

During a two day Arab summit, Somalia President Hassan Shikh Mohamud has met with the United Nation’s secretary General Bank moon in Sharma el-Sheikh, Egypt on Sunday. The meeting which was held behind closed doors touched on a wide range of issue including Somali peace process.

The two officials discussed Somalia’s planned 2016 vision, war against Al-shabab and building strong Somali army following years of long civil and chaos in the war-ravaged horn of African nation.

Somali president Hassan Shikh Mohamud told Ban that Somali government is on the path to achieve planned vision of 2016 with no extension term.  The Sectary General welcomed president’s leadership in the ongoing Somali state formation process.

The UN official has expressed his sincere condolences to the president over recent Al-shabab attack on Maka Al-mukarama Hotel in Mogadishu. The assault killed high profile government officials including Yusuf Bari-Bari.
