Somali president asks people to collaborate with security forces

President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has on Saturday called for people to work with National Security Forces and urged them to contribute information to Intelligence and Security forces in order they protect the threats.

“We are in a fight with enemy with international level which is dangerous for our security and existence, the enemy is Al-Shabab whose aim to massacre people, the evidence is how they are targeting our Somali people ruthlessly, we can achieve them being united against them”, President Hassan said in an occasion held in the capital for security handling.

The president said that the government tries to solve payment delay of the National Army and will give their rights as soon as possible considering the circumstance of the financial problems of the government.

“We have heroes who are losing their lives for saving mothers and children and Somali people, those who lost their lives in the latest attacks were martyrs defending people and the nation”, President Mohamud added.

The president also welcomed the decision by the cabinet this week on security measures aimed to minimize the risk of terrorist group of Al-Shabab and protect all plots from them in the capital Mogadishu and the rest of the country.

Minister of Internal Security, Abdirisak Omar Mohamed and Mogadishu mayor spoke at the occassion which was held at the house of the local government in Mogadishu.

President Hassan’s remarks come as the Al-qaeda linked group of Al-Shabab increased their attacks in the capital Mogadishu and rest of the country in particular the deadly attacks in Mogadishu and Baidoa town last week in which many people mostly civilians were killed.

Somali National Army backed by the African Union Peacekeeping troops removed Al- Shabab group in 2011, but it still carries out frequent attacks showing it is not defeated.
