Somali police detain owner of lion cubs that attacked young girl

Somali police have detained the owner of two lion cubs that attacked and wounded young girl.

The cubs were in the owner’s home in Mogadishu Abdulaziz neighborhood when they suddenly attacked the young girl who went there to see when the incident occurred.

The government has since banned the keeping of wild animals in the city by the enthusiastic wild animal conservationist.

Two years ago two lions kept by Libyan ambassador escaped from his residence in Mogadishu creating panic among the residents in Somali capital.

So far there is no strict law in the constitution which bars keeping of wild animals in residential areas since the collapse of the central government in 1990s.
