SNA and AMISOM discuss new offensive against Alshabaab

Senior military officials from Somali National Army and AMISOM peacekeeping troops have discussed new military offensive against armed group Alshabaab.

The crucial meeting to Somali security which was presided over by Somali National Army chief and AMISOM force new Djibouti commander was also attended by representatives from friendly states involved in training and equipping of Somali security forces.

“The meeting is on new military strategy on countering armed group Alshabaab which will kick off soon,” said SNA army Chief Gen. Mohamed Adan.

“Our forces are ready to lead the new offensive to liberate our country,” added Gen. Adan.

New AMISOM Djibouti commander General Osman Nur Subagle has said that armed group Alshabaab thrives on hit and run attacks and can’t withstand face to face military strategy.

“Alshabaab can’t withstand SNA and AMISOM offensive, Somali people will receive good news about the fight against the terror group soon,” he said.

The new announced joint military offensive comes as the country is preparing for upcoming historic parliamentary and presidential elections in next few months.
