SIMHA and NUSOJ demand release of AlJazeera Journalist

Somali Independent Media Houses Association (SIMHA) and National Union for Somali Journalist (NUSOJ) have called for the immediate release of detained AlJazeera Journalist.

Producer Hamza Mohamed and fixer were arrested by Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) on Tuesday evening in Mogadishu.

SIMHA chair Hassan Ali Gesey and NUSOJ Secretary General Mohamed Ibrahim Moalimu visited the detained Journalist in NISA prison on Wednesday.

They said Hamza and his colleague were in good health adding that they are working hard towards the release of the Journalists.

Social media hashtag #FreeHamza is trending among media workers in and outside the country in an effort to campaign for the release.

Hamza Mohamed who is correspondent for Qatari based AlJazeera has extensively covered Somalia mainly the conflict between the government and armed group.
