Thursday 31 December, Mogadishu: The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, HE Hassan Sheikh Mohamud today recognized the contribution of Mr Nicholas Kay, the outgoing UN Special Representative for Somalia (SRSG).
“On behalf of Somalia, I thank Mr Kay for his two and half years of service in Somalia. Mr. Kay has worked tirelessly in the effort of peace and stability in Somalia, overseeing the UN‘s activities in Somalia and ensuring that the international effort was coordinated and harmonized. We pay tribute to his contribution and recognize his energy, focus and commitment to Somalia and her people.
“We wish him well for his future and know that whatever he takes on next will be attended to with the same passion and drive that he demonstrated in Somalia,” the President said.
Mr. Kay was appointed SRSG in 2013. Mr. Michael Keating will take over as the next SRSG in mid-January 2016.
