NUSOJ Secretary General welcomed in Nairobi, pledges reforms

The new Secretary General for National Union for Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) was welcomed in Nairobi on Saturday by Somali exiled Journalists in the country.

Former BBC Mogadishu correspondent Mohamed Ibrahim Moalimu who was recently elected has promised reforms of the union.

Mr. Moalimu discussed with number of Somali exiled Journalists during the dinner and pledged to respond to their grievances including working permits.

“We are looking forward to closely engage with the government of Kenya and refugee agencies in order to secure legal working permits for exiled Journalists in Kenya,” he said.

He urged exiled Journalists in the country to unite for their national and professional interest saying the new NUSOJ is ready to engage with them.

“We are ready to listen and engage with Somali exiled journalists in the region, we will respond to their complaint and welcome suggestions as well,” he said.

The President of the federal republic of Somalia, the Prime Minister, UN agencies in the country, civil society and among others have welcomed the results of the national union for Somali Journalists which has experienced leadership wrangles before.
