Mogadishu court orders deportation of 27 Kenyan workers

 

 

A court in Somali capital Mogadishu has on Thursday ordered deportation of 27 Kenyan citizens out of the country.

The Kenyans who were working with software company Liber were found guilty and operating without work permit.

The court proceeding that was held inside fortified airport for security purpose, also fined USD 10 for each and every one of them for every single day they were operating without work permit.

The soft ware company that has employed them was also fine USD 10,000 for not cooperating with the law and registering their workers.

According to Somali larbour law that was recently approved by the parliament foreign nationals working in Somalia are required to acquire work permit that expires within period one year.

Ministry of larbour has called upon foreign nations working within the country to register themselves or face full force of the law.
