Kenyan Parliament approves new envoy to Somalia

Kenyan national assembly has approved the new ambassador to Somalia.

The members passed President Uhuru Kenyatta’s nomination retired military general Lucas Tumbo.

Ambassador Lukas was earlier part of Kenyan parliament defense and foreign relations committee.

Kenya and Somalia enjoy good relations particulartly in the coordination of fight against armed group Al Shabaab which is a great threat to security of both states.

Issues such as crackdown on Somali refugees in Kenya, disputed territories and Nairobi decision to build separation wall along the border is a contentious issues between the two countries.
