Kenya cancels Somali flights

Kenya government has cancelled daily flights to Somalia for undisclosed time, a source in Kenyan capital Nairobi has confirmed to Radio Dalsan.

It is not immediately clear the main reason behind the decision but the relationship between two neighboring countries have been previously affected by security issues related to increasing cross border Al Shabaab attacks inside Kenya.

The improving security in Somalia since armed group Al Shabaab pushed out of the capital Mogadishu few years ago has increased international flights to horn of African state mainly from neighboring countries.

Somalia is a significant trading partner for Kenya grown Khat or miraa that is widely consumed by Somali population.

US President Barrack Obama is expected to visit the country next month to attend the annual Global Entrepreneurship Summit, which the Kenyan government has agreed to co-host this year.
