International community concerned about Somaliland delayed elections

The international community is greatly concerned about the delayed parliamentary elections in the self declared state of Somaliland.

The move is unnecessary and will damage international partners trust on Hargeisa authorities said part of press statement issued by the international community after President Silanyo decision.

The delayed parliamentary election is not good recipe for democracy and does not translate into the will of the people in Somaliland that will affect the relations of the self declared state and the international community, it added.

Foreign minister Dr. Said Ali Shire attributed the delay by his administration on what he described as responding to grievances of the citizens on political representation promised by President Silanyo earlier.
