Former senior UN adviser declares interest in Somali Presidential election

Former UN special envoy to Somalia adviser has declared to contest for Presidency in the upcoming elections.

Abdirahman Abdishakur who served as special adviser to by then UN envoy to Somalia ambassador Nicholas Kay confirmed the contest through Daljir party ticket.

The chairman of the party, Kamal Gutale has told the media about the interest of the party in the September elections.

Gutale said there candidate has vast experience in governance as he once served as minister for planning in previous governments.

The nationalist party chairman said if the party is elected to lead the country, it will prioritize development as it is the backbone to eradicate insecurity which is the major challenge facing the horn of African state.

Several candidates have declared their interest to replace incumbent President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in what is set to be highly contested elections come September this year.

Already plans are underway to pave way for historic event.
