Ethiopian troops cross Somalia border to capture wanted cleric

Forces from the bordering Ethiopia with battle wagons on Tuesday crossed Somalia border along Ethiopia, attempting to capture Quran teacher in Buuhoodle town. Puntland officials in Garowe said that Ethiopian troops were in pursuit of unrevealed cleric.

The Quran teacher has escaped from the scene shortly after the Ethiopians crossed border amid he was on alert about the force’s invade in Somalia according to Abdurahman Abdulahi afweyne.

Two Buuhoodle elders who asked to remain anonymous said that Ethiopians have entered border by forces to seize the cleric. Unnamed woman reported to have been injured in the operation.

The wanted teacher is believed to have links with Somalia’s Al-shabaab militants, Puntland officials in Buhodle said. The wounded woman was transferred to Garowe Hospital for health treatments.

Ethiopia is one of the largest troop contributing countries to AU anti Al-shabaab operations in Somalia and already have 4,000 soldiers in the mission.
