Al Shabab fighters attacked largest AMISOM base in Lego village, Lower Shabelle region, heavy blasts and gunfire reported.
According to residents Al Shabab miltants burnt down AMISOM vehicles and confiscated heavy weapons from AU military base in area.
AMISOM has confirmed that there was an attack on one of their military base in Lego.
The armed militant group Al Shabab also claimed that Lego AMISOM base is under their control.
Its Spokesman Abdiaziz Abu Mus’ab told media that 45 Burundian Soldiers were killed in the Attack.
On Wednesday Al Shabab claimed a suicide car bomb attack on UAE ambassador’s convoy in which 14 people lost their lives.
The group announced to intensify attacks against AMISOM and Somali government troops during the holy month of Ramadan.
