Kenya says it had intelligence report before US drone strike killed Al Shabaab figure

Kenyan government said its military and intelligence department exchanged information on suspected Al Shabaab Westgate shopping mall mastermind.

Adan Garar, groups top intelligence figure was killed near Somali city of Bardere when his vehicle was hit by US drone strike.

Two his close aide was also killed in the attack.

Garar is believed to have played a key role in Nairobi Westgate shopping mall attack two years ago in which more than 60 killed and over 200 others wounded.

Kenya sent its troops in Somalia in late 2011 for what it described as safeguarding of its national security and economy threatened by Al Shabaab.
