Jawari Barred From Accessing Parliament Bank Account Ahead Of Impeachment Motion

Somalia’s Lower House Speaker Mohamed Osman Jawari has been barred from accessing Parliament’s accounts, Radio Dalsan has learnt.

A source has told Radio Dalsan that Deputy Speaker of the Lower House Abdiweli Mudey last week officially communicated to the Central Bank Of Somalia seeking to have Jawari replaced by him as a signatory of the Parliament account.

Mudey declared himself in charge of Parliament proceedings ahead of impeachment Motion against Speaker Jawari.

Jawari however in a statement on Monday said that Mudey had no mandate constitutionally to take charge of the Parliament proceedings.

Somalia has been thrown into a political stalemate following a fall out between Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire and Speaker Jawari.
