Detained journalist Shaashaa is under investigation for fraud, Hirshabelle authority said on Saturday.

Speaking to the media for the first time since the arrest, the HirShebelle police commandant Adan Yarow claimed that Abdishakur Shaahshaa who is RTN TV correspondent and also the owner of City FM in Jowhar, misappropriating money he collected from the public to help the victims of the October 14, 2017, Zobe explosion.

Commander Yarow who presented the photos of Abdishakur raising funds for the victims said that they are still investigating him and will soon arraign him in court.

Journalist Shaashaa was arrested on January 1, 2018, after the region’s authority issued an order to arrest him.
