Four injured in car bombing outside the UNDP compound in Mogadishu

At least four soldiers were injured when a UN hired vehicle exploded outside the UNDP compound in Mogadishu on Wednesday.

Radio Dalsan reporters says the car had been at the garage and belonged to one of the UN contractors.

“The car exploded and injured four soldiers. No one was inside it when it exploded” they added.

The incident took place in one of the most protected areas in the capital Mogadishu.

UNDP members in Somalia who spoke to Radio Dalsan Editor Hassan Istiila over the phone says not of UNDP staff wounded in the attack, they added that the four soldiers injured in the attack were members of DUGUF, a private security providing company.

Somali security forces have been arrested at least nine people in connection with the attack.

Al shabaab has claimed responsibility for the attack, in a statement distributed through social media network, the group has also claimed in the past similar explosions targeting western interests area near Mogadishu airport.

The explosion comes two days after the twin Mogadishu bombings targeting Amisom Halane camp and Peace Hotel where at least 23 people were killed.
