The Director of the Somali intelligence agency Fahad Yassin has appointed NISA Deputy Chief of staff barely a week after the former deputy chief was fired prime minister Roble.
The spy chief has appointed Abbas Yaqub as the new NISA chief of staff, replacing Abdullahi Kulane.
Abbas is also a senior member of the National Intelligence and Security Agency and was the head of administration, finance and technology at one of the spy agency offices in Mogadishu.
According to sources, the appointment came after a closed-door meeting between Fahad Yassin and incumbent President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo.
Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble last week fired the deputy chief of staff after he allegedly bared citizens from travelling from Aden Adde International Airport.
The move by the premier to dismiss the deputy chief of staff was welcomed opposition candidates.
