Jubaland state elected the remaining four seats in the 11th parliament of the federal government of Somalia.
The vote, held in Kismayo, saw four senators join Somalia’s Upper House of Parliament on Thursday.
The first seat was won by Senator Hassan Dahir Yarow, who received 59 votes.
The second seat was won by Ibrahim Awgaab Osman with 57 votes.
The third seat was easier, as Mohamed Mohamoud Abdi conceded in favour of Layla Nur Maax who won the seat with 63 votes, defeating Haredo Mohamed Sheikh who received only 9 votes.
The contestants for the fourth Maryan Farah Kadiye and Samsam Mohamed Bishar are the second female contestant in today’s four seats. Maryan won the seat, getting 50 votes against Samsam.
Today’s election now brings to 50 the number of senators elected so far in Somalia.
