Kaah party wins majority of votes in Ufeyn district

The Transitional Puntland Electoral Commission (TPEC) has announced the preliminary results of the 11 polling stations in Ufeyn district in the North-Eastern Somali regional state of Puntland.

The chairman of Transitional Puntland Electoral Commission (TPEC), Guled Salah, who announced the conclusion of the elections said that the vote-counting is still in process and the results will be announced in the coming hours.

Kaah party led by Puntland president, Said Abdullahi Deni won the majority of the votes of ‘one person, one vote’ elections followed by Midideeye party with 1,300, Cadaalad iyo Sinaan party, Horseed and Mustaqbal.

The local council elections were held in Qardho, Eyl and Ufeyn districts on Monday with the presence of international observers who were monitoring the elections.

More than 37,000 people turned up for the elections which were widely seen as a pilot run ahead of state-wide local government elections in other regions in 2022.
