Jubaland is set to kick off the twice delayed Senate elections on Thursday, a day after the electoral commission registered the candidates.
Jubbaland Electoral Implementation Committee on Tuesday released a timetable for the election of the Upper House of the Federal Parliament from the Jubbaland state.
The move was commended by Prime Mohamed Hussein Roble and urged Somalia’s other regional states to follow suit.
Jubbaland has been allocation eight seats in the federal Senate or Upper House.
Today’s vote will be for four of the seats while elections for the four remaining posts will take place after candidates are vetted.
Th results will be announced on July 27 according to the electoral committee.
