Somalia joins China in celebrating National Day observance
The Chinese Embassy in Mogadishu hosted an online reception for the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China on Thursday.
At the reception, Chinese Ambassador FEI Shengchao and invited guests delivered video remarks, followed by performances and a short film.
The virtual Ceremony Organised by the Chinese Embassy in Mogadishu was attended by the Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia Hamza Abdi Barre.
Other diplomats representing the United Nations office In Somalia, the African Union Mission In Somalia and the European Union among other guest attend the virtual ceremony.
The Chinese Embassy in Mogadishu said the future of Beijing will be even brighter with still more miracles to be made.
The Embassy said Somalia will embrace a promising future leading to more success stories between the two countries thus influencing cooperation.
National Day falls every year on October 1. The holiday commemorates the day that Communist Party Chairman, Mao Zedong, famously first raised the Chinese National Flag in Tiananmen Square and proclaimed the birth of a new nation, the People’s Republic of China (PRC), in 1949.
Somalia and China established diplomatic ties more than 60 years ago and the two countries have always respected and treated each other as equals.
China and Somalia support and cooperate with each other in dealing with a series of complex challenges and issues concerning each other’s major concerns.
