Somali Military Pledge Support To Ma'awisley Militia
Somali military has pledged to provide support for a self-styled militia group, Ma’awisley, to continue fighting against the Al Shabab group.
Speaking to the militia group on Tuesday, Mohamed Tahlil Bihi, the Commander of the Somali infantry division said the military will provide food, aid and weapons to the militia to join the fight against Alshabaab.
´´The military is ready to provide weapons, food and other medical services to you so that we fight against the Al Shabaab group´´ said the Commander of the Somali infantry division, Mohamed Tahlil Bihi.
Ma’awisley has been operating in Middle Shabelle and Hiran regions since last year. They were also sighted in the Lower Shabelle region.
The group that is totally opposed to Al-Shabaab and has been operating in southern central parts of Somalia.
The self-organized militia has launched several fights against Al-Shabaab in the recent past.
Its emergence in the region comes at a time when the military has heightened its offensive against the military in several operations in central Somalia against Al-Shabaab fighters.
