Somaliland President Meets US Delegation In Hargeisa
The Somaliland President, Muse Bihi Abdi, received a delegation consisting of diplomats, military officers and officials from the Heritage Foundation Academy who are on a business trip to Somaliland.
The President briefed the delegation on the Somaliland situation, development, democratic aspects and elections, according to a statement issued by the Somaliland Presidency.
“The President Bihi gave the delegation general information about the progress made by the country and the cooperation of the people and the successive governments that were transferring the power of the government to the democratic system”.
The delegation thanked the government and the people of Somaliland for the welcome and the progress it has made.
“They praised the government and the people of the Republic of Somaliland for the progress they have made in terms of security, democracy and good governance, and they showed that the country is peaceful and adaptable,” the statement added.
The delegation consisted of Mr Tibor Nagy, the former US Assistant Secretary of State for Africa, Ambassador J. Peter Pham, the former US Ambassador to the Sahel region in West Africa, the former Commander of US Forces in Africa (Africom) General William “Kip” Ward and Mr Joshua Meservey, from the Heritage Foundation who specialize in African and Middle Eastern politics.
