SNA captures Al-shabaab controlled villages in central Somalia
Somali National Army (SNA) in a joint operation with Hirshabelle forces liberated several villages under the control of Al-Shabaab fighters following security operations against Al-Shabaab fighters in central Somalia.
The operation was led by Ali Jeyte Osman the governor of the Hiiraan region alongside the district commissioners of Mataban and Mahaas as the activities were done separately in those two districts.
According to Matabaan district commissioner Bashir Abdi Rahman Shekeye, the liberated areas include Bukure, Lassaban, Oomad, Bagda, Qabno and other small villages.
He called on charity organizations and asked them to provide immediate assistance to the people affected by the drought in the liberated areas.
“We are calling on the Charitable Organizations to assist the people affected by the drought, they need food, water and the basic things of life,” said Bashir Abdi Rahman Shekeye.
Officials of the 27th division of the national armed forces have confirmed that the operations will continue to liberate more villages in the region.
Al-Shabaab has not yet commented on SNA operations against the group’s fighters.
The group controls several towns and villages in central and southern Somalia.
