During the three-day visit, the president will lead the Somali-Uganda business summit in Kampala.
Somalia’s leader will hold bilateral talks with his host, President Yoweri Museveni, on security, investment, trade, and regional cooperation.
“President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who will begin a three-day visit to the country, will discuss with President Yoweri Museveni the strengthening and development of relations between the two governments and the enhancement of cooperation in the field of security,” the office of the president said.
Presidents Museveni and Mohamud will preside at a joint Uganda-Somalia investment and business summit in Kampala on August 9 and 10. About 300 delegates are expected to attend.
Uganda is crucial to Mogadishu’s internal security, as it is one of five troop-contributing countries to the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (Atmis), which is currently building the country’s security capacity.
