UN Special Envoy James Swan commends Somali Parliament for approval Barre's appointment; reiterates UN commitment to closely working with him
The United Nations Special Envoy to Somalia, James Swan has commended legislators for approving the appointment of the new Prime Minister.
The UN Special representative conveyed congratulatory message to lawmakers of the House of the People for approving Hamza Abdi Barre as the new Somali PM.
220 legislators of the Lower House unanimously endorsed the appointment of Barre as the new Prime Minister on Saturday.
The Special Envoy Swan expressed optimism to looking forward to working closely with Prime Minister Hamza Barre in a bid to advance the country’s national priorities.
Barre is set to replace the outgoing Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble who been in office since September 2020.
He becomes the 22st Prime Minister to serve the East African Nation.
