Hirshabelle State President examines the scale of destruction at Beledweyne hospital
Somalia’s Hirshabelle State Ali Gudlawe has today visited Beledweyne hospital to assess the scale of the destruction.
The Hospital was severely obliterated by the second bomb blasts in the town that killed over 48 people including MP Amina Mohamed Abdi on 23 March.
Accompanied by Hiraan governor Ali Jeyte, Gudlawe assessed the damage in several main departments which were completely destroyed by the explosion which occurred in front of the main regional hospital facility.
Gudlawe appealed to the Federal government to help in the rebuilding of the facility in order to continue serving to the people in the town and across the Hiraan region.
Pictures taken from the hospital show a dilapidated state of the facility with the major departments including Emergency, Maternal, X-ray, Laboratory & medicine store and theatre having been left in a dilapidated state.
Hiiraan regional health coordinator Ahmed Khalif who spoke to Goobjoog News said that the hospital buildings and facilities have all been destroyed adding that three hospital staff were injured during the attack.
Al-Shabab Militant group claimed responsibility for the attacks in the town which started at the Presidential palace before a car loaded with explosives detonated in front of the hospital sparking huge catastrophy.
