Puntland State President Said Abdullahi Deni mourns the death of five of his bodyguards
Puntland State President Said Abdullahi Deni has expressed his condolences to Puntland security forces especially the Darawish forces serving in different ranks over the death of their colleagues who were involved in an accident on Monday.
In a statement President Deni conveyed consolation to the Darawish forces top commanders for the untimely death of their officers on an accident.
“I would like to send and express special condolences to the commander of the 4th Dayax battalion of Darawish forces Major General Mohamed Mubarak Warsame and his forces on the death of captain Khathar Abdi Jalfis and five of his colleagues who were killed in a road accident on Monday.” said President Deni.
The officers who were escorting the entourage of President Deni upended on a highway between Dangoroyo and Libaho villages in Nugal region.
Soldiers who were wounded in the accident have been instantly rushed to a hospital in region’s capital Garowe where they are currently receiving treatment for their injuries.
The regional State leader was returning from the commercial town of Bosaso, where parliamentary elections for 16 seats were on Saturday concluded and also striked a deal with Puntland traditional elders and former sacked Commandant of PSF special forces Mohamud Osman Diyano who has since been reinstated by the leader.
Two of his bodyguards were killed on February 21 when they were attacked on their way to Bosaso town in Bari region.
However, the regional leader escaped unhurt in the attack which was later claimed by Al-Shabaab militant group.
