PM Roble holds meeting with the Committee tasked to evaluate the situation in Garbaharey
Somali Mohamed Hussein Roble on Sunday held meeting in his office with the Committee tasked to evaluate the situation of Garbaharey, the second voting constituency of Jubbaland State.
The committee briefed PM Roble their consultations and findings in Kismayo district where they held meeting with Jubbaland leaders and traditional elders.
The committee on Saturday wrapped up their consultation in Kismayo by meeting with President Ahmed Madobe and traditional elders.
The committee also met with members of the Somali Political Dialogue to get their views on how to resolve the Electoral stalemate in Gedo region.
Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble had on Tuesday appointed the committee to bring a comprehensive report on the security situation in Garbaharey town.
Gedo region administration have so far threatened to boycott the findings and recommendations of the committee saying the committee can not be trusted in coming up with a finding on the situation on the ground.
Garbaharey is the second voting centre for Jubbaland State and the 16 parliamentary seats that are in the town have sparked a controversy between the State President Ahmed and Gedo regional administration over their management which occasioned a delay in holding elections in the town.
Jubbaland State government however say the security situation in the town would not guarantee them to hold elections there claiming their are heavy presence of intelligence officer deployed by the Federal government to scuttle and meddle in the elections.
This even comes as the deadline for the completion of the ongoing Lower House elections inches closer with almost all the States endeavouring to conclude the polls before March 15th.
