Ex-South West state president accuses Laftagaren of blocking him to travelling to Baidoa for elections
Former SouthWest State president Shariff Hassan Sheikh Adan has been blocked from departing to Baidoa town on Sunday.
The former regional state leader was set to run for a parliamentary seat in the ongoing Lower House elections in the country.
Speaking to journalists, Sharif despite having been cleared by the Ministry of Internal security to travel from Mogadishu’s Aden Abdulle International Airport to Baidoa town.
”I was never expecting to be blocked to travel to Baidoa to contest for a parliamentary seat. I was barred to travel after orders from the Southwest president,” Sharif told journalists.
He accused president Abdiasis Lafta Garen who is a close ally of Farmaajo of rigging elections and siding with the federal government.
Sharif resigned as president of South West state and quit the state presidential race in 2018 following a fierce political battle with the federal government.
