The Somali soldiers confiscated the equipment of the media personnel and threatened any one found broadcasting the effects of the multiple attacks in several districts in the capital Mogadishu especially Kahda district where attackers for hours seized control of the police station.

Somali Syndicate of Journalists in a statement carried on its Twitter handle says it is concerned about the safety of the Journalists who have been taken to undisclosed destination.

It is not clear who gave the orders to detain and bar the journalists from covering the attacks in the capital Mogadishut but media practitioners in Somalia usually face a lot of challenges in their line of duty with torture, intimidation and harrassment from both government officials and Al- Shabaab Militants.

The crackdown on the Journalists and media comes days after the United States said it had imposed Visa restrictions to Somali leaders who were linked to the muzzling, harrassment and torture of Journalists during this electioneering period.

However, US did not give names and particulars of the Somali officials who were placed under Visa restrictions as the country grapples with parliamentary elections which have been marred by allegations of widespread malpractices and riggings.
