UK ambassador, Jubaland president discuss drought and elections

The President of the Jubbaland State of Somalia, Ahmed Mohamed Madobe on Saturday met with a delegation led by the UK Ambassador to Somalia, Kate Foster in Kismayo.

Among the delegation accompanied by the UK ambassador to Somalia was UK Special Envoy for Famine Prevention and Humanitarian Affairs, Nick Dyer.

”Had a lengthy discussion on the severe drought in Jubaland and put forward short and long term solutions to the famine challenges,” Jubaland president Ahmed Madobe said.

The meeting was attended by Jubbaland Deputy Minister of Planning Mohamed Omar Jama, Minister of Relief and Disaster Management Abdirahman Abdi Ahmed and Minister of Energy and Water Resources Ahmed Hussein Baraki.

Ahmed Madobe discussed with Kate Foster and other members the issues related to the drought and the elections in Somalia.

Jubaland is among the worst affected areas by the ongoing drought in terms of poor availability of pasture and water.
